Welcome to the first Worship Canvas Blog. My name is John Crawford and my desire and goal is to help anyone who is involved in Creative & Worship Ministries to grow in their craft. If you are part of a team that is involved in leading people in worship – a musician, singer, leader, “up front” person, music director, audio visual person – you know the huge challenge of bringing together a variety of people, ages, experience, and ability to work as a cohesive team for benefit of God’s people and the glory of His name.I believe that every church can have an engaging worship experience no matter what the level of expertise in those who serve. If you want to gain understanding, step up in you skills, then this blog is for you.
I want to gather and distill over 40 years of being a professional musician and 30 years in worship & pastoral ministry and be your online coach and mentor. I hope to be answering the myriad of questions I’ve been asked in live seminars and one on one mentoring. I also want to collect the wisdom of many colleagues in a variety fields to help us all grow in our craft and service to God. If you are part of team, make sure they log onto this blog so you can discuss and grow together.
I plan to post weekly on a Friday, and I want this to be a dialogue, not a monologue. So please send me feedback and I’ll do my best to respond to as many of your comments as I am able. Next week I’ll begin looking at practical ways of having a great rehearsal.
